James always reflected a deep understanding of technical trends and opportunities which was translated into concise, strategic plans. He easily bridged the gap between business stakeholders and software engineering staff, empowering teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions while meeting stakeholder needs. His pragmatic approach to product management allowed him and our team to succeed employing Agile methodologies without being bogged down with the daily minutiae of such methodologies. Under James’s guidance, he helped establish a fledgling Product Management team, which today is a mature, high performing division of the company.
As a manager, James removed impediments ensuring success of his staff, while providing guidance when desired or necessary. James was also equally effective leader, providing guidance to his team to ensure personal growth as well as managing interactions with other teams. To this day, James remains one of the few managers I’ve had who provided highly accurate and useful performance assessments during periodic staff reviews. His insights during those reviews aided me in my growth while on the Product Management team.
